Letter from G.N. Saibaba to his wife (15th June 2023)

Read here about the case of GN Saibaba and why he ought to be released immediately!

Dear Vasantha,

The physical distance between you both there in Delhi and me in this prison is far more than the real distance between Delhi and Nagpur. It sounds like a trillion kilometres. But within the language of our minds, I feel there is hardly any distance. The state forces still want to keep us away even by a couple of more trillion kilometres.

The anti-human laws and inhuman procedures of laws are also capable of increasing the hiatus between us in terms of the language of our hearts. Seven and half years of life is cut from us and such a distance of trillions of kilometres and time is created. As this also doesn't work, the forces of darkness are trying to put off all the light around us.

The hot summer here is still continuing. The anda cell remains a cooking pot. Monsoon rains will not reach vidarbha till after 20 June. Meanwhile El nino affect may stall the movement of the monsoon. That will be disastrous for me. The IMD prediction is that EI nino may reduce the rainfall all over India significantly. It's a good decision you took, cancelling your trip to Nagpur and to Kakinada. You couldn't have faced these kinds of heat waves on the journey.

My helpers have been trying blankets soaked in water all around the prison cell since April. They even pour water on the floor of the cell. But within minutes the water disappears and blankets become dry. Though the temperatures are 43° or 44° unlike earlier years of 46° or 47°, the heat is unbearable this year because of vast and sudden changes in heat conditions, temperatures and high humidity. If El Nino affects severely, my health condition will be adversely impacted just like that of the conditions of farmers in the country, who will be unable to withstand the new climate changes.

With lots of love

Sai
