The following poems were written by poet Sudhir Dhawale and Advocate Surendra Gadling on 6 June 2023, the fifth anniversary of their incarceration as undertrials in the Bhima Koregaon/Elgar Parishad case.


आजादी

दिवस

आजादी

तुझ्याविना...

 

आजादीला बेड्या घालणाऱ्यांनो,

एक गोष्ट लक्षात असू द्या

स्वप्न

आणि

इच्छा

बंदिश मानत नसतात

आणि

त्यांची एक्सपायरी डेट नसते

You who fetter freedom,

Keep one thing in mind:

dreams

and

desires

know no confinement

and

have no

expiry date.

मेरे लिये तो "जेल" है

मै खुश हूँ

‘Where you think

There is a toilet-sink.’

 

Is it true?

For you?

 

For me

It is a prison-clink

 

I’m fine

What about you?

Think.
